Day 1 : Alphonse Island

Fly from Mahe Airport to Alphonse where are you are met on arrival and transferred to your lodge.

These magnificent islands and atolls, consisting of the Alphonse Group  of Islands – the stunning trio of Alphonse Island, St François Island and Bijoutier Island and the other beautiful atolls of Cosmoledo Atoll, Astove Atoll, Poivre Atoll and the resplendent Amirante Islands are found south of the equator in the heart of the Indian Ocean. These range between 400 and 1 055 kilometres south-west of Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles.

They are blessed with one of the world’s healthiest climates, with miles of unblemished shorelines, lagoons and sea flats. The isolation of these islands and atolls creates an atmosphere of undisturbed solitude where you can immerse yourself in the natural wonders and exceptional experiences they have to offer.

Considered some of the untouched Edens of the world, these outer islands and atolls of the Seychelles have an unparalleled biome of diversity and abundance, making them a nature lover’s paradise which begs to be discovered and explored.

Day 2 : Alphonse Island

Alphonse Island has been the only outer island of the Seychelles to offer diving in recent years and is the sole resort where you can fully experience the sheer abundance and massive size of fish in comparison to the Inner Islands. This is due to our isolation and subsequent lower fishing pressure. Here you can relish the exclusivity of being the only divers in the ocean surrounding the entire Alphonse Group with few other boats around.

The coral reefs have also shown a greater resilience to climate variations than in the granitic Inner Islands and therefore our coralline plateaus are densely covered in hard coral and thick forests of gorgonian sea fans. Stunning black coral and sea whips are commonplace on the walls.

All the equipment will be set up ready for you to go diving and then will be taken care of after the dive. This means that you can dive whilst maximizing time for relaxation

Diving at Alphonse

Temperatures range from 25-30 ̊C. Thermo-clines tend to develop towards the start [October] and end [April] of the season but can also crop up throughout the year and take you by surprise. Most of the time an average of 28-29 ̊C can be expected which is suitable for a 3mm shortie, long wetsuit or even none at all for those who do not feel the cold.

Visibility is great, seasonally more than 40m, making sure that you can take in all the breathtaking scenery of our drop-offs.

Tides and wind can affect visibility more than clouds and rain and therefore the team plans around tidal variation to avoid visibility lower than 20m.
